Thou hast no right…

…but to do thy Will.

Hear me, ye people of sighing!
The sorrows of pain and regret
Are left to the dead and the dying,
The folk that not know me as yet.
            Liber Al Vel Legis, 2:17

I always enjoyed reading the works of Aleister Crowley, and reading quite a bit of the trove of “Crowleyana” out there as well. I found some of the material a bit sycophantic; whether it was authored by Crowley or not. Being knowledgeable of quite a bit of Ceremonial Magick, Alchemy and Tarot, I wasn’t surprised that at the beginning of the new millennium I met up with members of one of the biggest Thelemic Lodges in the country – in Texas, no less.

I was working at my Art in a small company in Austin, Texas and I knew several people there were the well-groomed, corporate-camoed, hippy-types, and I proved my Padar (Pagan-Radar) accurate when I put out some Easter candy for the clerical staff and management and Ii noticed a beautiful Pagan calendar on someone’s desk. She came back to her desk before I got a chance to leave it as a surprise and she smiled.

“Happy Easter,” and then paused a moment with a raised eyebrow and finished, “or should I say, Happy Oestara?”

Needless to say she was stunned that I just “knew” we spoke the same language, but I told her that I noticed the calendar before she came in. She laughed and asked if I was Wiccan and I said no, but that my wife followed that path – and a few others. She said something about getting together some time for coffee or wine and I thought it sounded like a good idea. Of course, I digress.

That was my first encounter with heretical spiritualists in Texas, but not even close to being my last. About a week later, while waiting in the lobby for a ride home (we had one car at the time, and everything is an hour away in Texas), I said hello to one of the guys that I knew worked in the records department of the company.

I was reading a rather heavy volume and I didn’t flaunt what it was, but when my coworker walked by he looked at me rather surprised and said, “Is that Gems from the Equinox?” It was. Soon my new acquaintance was introducing me to The Lodge.

I pause for tonight.

Reading too much into things…

Of course, we all have our own “alternative” media outlets. We all gravitate to FAPs (Frequently Accessed Patterns), whether we are at work, at play, or at Love… we turn to our favorite “sources” of information, and catapult from there to a variety of interconnected information-gateways… that lead to more “information”…

I like BuzzFlash.com, but not because BuzzFlash.com has such a great bunch of writers, but because they aggregate information. Some of the BuzzFlash editors make some very good reading… but I also use them as a databank of links that I refer to frequently without having to bookmark and tabulate… from the BuzzFlash site I have linked to anothe favorite Common Dreams… and Alternet.org - although, Alternet.org has somewhat become more MSM (MainStream-Media) in recent years… Arts and Letters Daily still provides a different view than most “mainstream” sources… aldaily.com maintains it eclecticism with such offerings as Fantasy

I recently came upon this website – http://www.lewrockwell.com/ and found some of the articles interesting… I hope you will too.

Hermitting…

Hermitting. I’m not sure if that is an actual word or not, but I like to refer to my intermittent, indeterminate breaks between postings, artwork, or even journaling, as a form of hermit-like behavior.

Of course, I also love the idea, or archetype of The Hermit. There are varying definitions or understandings of the term hermit. I like to study the different meanings and interpret them as an amalgam of what hermeticism means, to me, and to extend that with further insight and understanding. Wikipedia has this to say about the term Hermit. And, of course, Google.com, the search engine I have been prone to use of late, lists the Wikipedia entry as the first hit of over 6 million – GoogleSearch|Hermit.

The second link on the Google search is for a tarot web site, referencing – of course – The Hermit card, card number IX of most tarot decks major arcana. Of course, the links go on from there to… here… and here

I understand “hermitting” to be “removing oneself from the daily ‘grind’ of ‘society’ in order to ‘ground’ and ‘balance’ one’s spiritual life with one’s ‘life’-Life.”

I like that.

I pause for now – 23:34

Dark Times

I like to keep up on the “alternative” news. But, just like “alternative music,” the alternative news is turning out to be the next mainstream news.

Iguess this is my Logos… this is my moment to set my voice to the higher calling, and to set my mind to the higher purpose of humankind…

Of course, being on theWEB I suppose I should be acustomed to having my name exposed to the world, to having my Identity exposed to the world… and, to make a statement… to carry out my Logos… to the World!

But, is this the forum? Is this the place? Is this the time? Is the time Now!?

That doesn’t really matter. What matters is, the Truth is not being told, and the Truth is on the tip of everyone’s tongue…

Why War? Why Poverty? Why do we accept the lot we have been “given”??? How do we get past this blockade of the Higher-Ups???

How is it a man in New Haven, Connecticut, can stand up to the Powers that Be and the rest of the world stands idly by?

I don’t have it in me to go on tonight… but this evening holds promise… promise for the future…

Winter in Full Stride

The New Mexico weather is wonderful. It can snow overnight, sleet and rain, and by ten-o-clock in the morning everything is dry again. Well, not everywhere in New Mexico, but certainly in the high altitudes.

The weather and the mountains here make for beautiful, natural temples for ceremonial magick practices. Living near a national forest means access to remote wilderness, far from other human beings – or, in close proximity if you fancy campgrounds and amenities. One can pack in very little gear, improvise on the temple furniture, and even on the magickal weapons, and have an almost aboriginal experience. The remote areas are also good for interpretive shamanic ritual, or just getting in touch with Mother Earth.

Of course, you do miss the beach. But, with the winter snows comes the bountiful spring creeks and rivers. In some stretches of mountains there are hot springs and mineral baths. All conducive to magickal ritual of the re-connect-to-the-spiritual sort. Communing with nature is so spiritual.

Of course, there may be some unannounced ritual participants, as being in a designated wilderness area ensures that wild animals abound. The majestic landscapes that stretch for hundreds of miles can some times bring you face to face with nature that has not yet encountered human beings. This can be a blessing, and a curse… Magickian! Arm thyself!
